The investigators did not confirm the information about the torture of followers of the Jehovah's Witnesses religious organization banned in Russia in Surgut. It is reported by the press service of the department.
Jehovah’s Witnesses were detained in mid-February on suspicion of creating an extremist organization. After the arrest, three members of the criminal cell declared harassment by law enforcement agencies.
However, the UK refuted this information. The forensic examination did not reveal on the claimants' body any signs of beatings or the use of a stun gun.
“The investigation believes that the actions of the participants are“ Jehovah's Witnesses ”* in Surgut … are an attempt to influence the investigation and are aimed at discrediting the law enforcement agencies,” the department said.
