Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will be tried in a corruption case.
The first corruption charges were brought against Sarkozy in 2014. The ex-president is suspected of using his connections to obtain information about the “Betancourt case”, of which he was a defendant and which was closed in 2013.
In this case, Sarkozy was accused of having received 150,000 euros for the election campaign from the owner of L’Oreal, Lilian Betancourt. It was alleged that Sarkozy received this amount fraudulently.
