Thousands of protesting activists took to the streets of Hong Kong on Sunday with an action against the current government. This demonstration was held not as the previous ones – in the center, but in the sleeping area of Shatin. It is located in the mainland of the city in the New Territories.
The protesters campaigned the government to fulfill the “five demands,” including a call to repeal the law on extradition.
Participants demand the cancellation of the classification of the demonstration on June 12, as a revolt. Release all action participants who are under arrest. Also, activists demand to create an independent commission. Which would investigate the illegal behavior of the police towards the citizens.
Clashes between protesters and law enforcement agencies took place after the end of the officially authorized demonstration. Participants refused to disperse. Began to behave aggressively towards police officers.
Local media reported that the police used pepper gas several times and used batons to disperse protesters.
